Action neededDear all,
This is with regard to the blackbuck deaths in the Rajkot zoo. The article published by Times Of India on 2nd February 2010 has clearly stated that this incident is the result of severe lapse in security as some of the guards were found sleeping and the Rajkot Municipal Corporation had admitted to the lapse and proposed to blacklist the security agency. According to the forensic report, as claimed by Mr.Niranjan Acharya (Rajkot based animal activist), the blackbucks died due to internal hemorrhage and were not killed by the stray dogs!!! The dogs were kept caged initially, now they have been dumped outside the Rajkot city on a highway. Mr.Niranjan Acharya said that the stray dogs in the periphery of the zoo area are now being caught and thrown out of the city too. AWBI’s lawyer, Ms.Anjali Shrama, has again been of immense help and she will be sending a notice to the Rajkot Municipal Commissioner, to stop this heinous crime. Meanwhile, it is a request to all the animal lovers, to pour in protest calls, emails and fax to the Municipal Commissioner asking him to stop this heinous crime which is against the law.
